Re: Budget requests 2011-2012
Dear sir,
At the meeting
of the Association a Motion was put forward to write to Council
seeking funds in the 2011-2012 period to:
• Guarantee the funds for a beach patrol for the summer
period and to suggest that funds be provided on a recurring basis
until annual sponsors can be guaranteed.
Note: It must
be stated that the Tuross community was indeed MOST APPRECIATIVE
of the beach patrol as the Tuross Main beach this year was in
the most dangerous configuration of bars, gutters and rivermouth
it has been for decades. It is widely believed that the location
Council chooses to open the rivermouth is directly attributable
to this dangerous situation. The Tuross Head Community will be
welcoming the review of the Opening Policy for Tuross Lake in
2015 – if not before.
• Provide
funds to dredge the boatramp prior to the Christmas holiday period
(there was heated outcry that Council had failed to do any dredging
in preparation for the 2010 -2011 season)
It must be
stated that the Tuross community was indeed MOST DISAPPOINTED
that the boatramp had not been dredged in the leadup to the Christmas
holiday period. This inaction resulted in boatramp rage as the
only time available to fisherfolks to launch and retrieve were
at high tide.

Just letting you know I was contacted by Council a few weeks ago
and they are planning to dredge out from the Tuross boat ramp
so its more useable over Xmas holidays. They have done this in
previous years and we issue them a permit for it.
Can Council please advise the Tuross Head Progress Association
as to why the dredging was not carried out – the resultant
inaction has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many of our
holiday visitors. Fishing on the Tuross lake is a major tourist
drawcard to this village and many of the angered visitors have
clearly stated that they will NOT return to Tuross again if the
same poor access remains.
• Provide
funds to investigate a second boatramp at The Narrows
Councils response
to the Recreational and Open Space Policy in regards to the submission
from the Tuross Head Progress Association about a second boatramp
was that it would be considered in Councils Boatramp Strategy
– Can Council please advise when this strategy will be instigated.
• Provide funding for a picnic shelter at Sandy Point and
at One Tree Point
• Provide funds to support Council’s recommendation
of “skating components” for Tuross Youth to be located
adjacent to the Tuross Shared pathway at locations to be advised
and approved.
• Provide funds for the design of the timber section of
the Tuross Shared Cycleway adjacent to Nelson Parade.
We look forward to your reply

RE:
Sandy Point Toilet Block Refurbishments
The Tuross
Head progress Association would like to thank Council for the
excellent new facilities that have been provided to Sandy Point.
The new toilet
facilities are most appreciated by our many visitors that come
to this important focal point of our village and the feedback
from visitors, bus tours and locals alike is one of gratitude
for the excellent quality, the timliness of the transition in
readiness for the holiday period and the open and clean lines
of the design that make it an attractive building.
Please pass
on our thanks to any other funding agency that has assisted in
the refurbishments as this has lifted the pride and the spirit
of the community and now better serves the needs of our many visitors
with quality fixtures as well as providing an excellent disabled
facility.
