Welcome to Tuross Head
From the Princes Highway a slender piece of land juts out into the blue Pacific to form Tuross Head positioned between the twin lakes of Tuross and Coila.

The village, comprising 2200 people occupies this picturesque headland whilst the drive along this isthmus into the town from the highway is one of the most scenic sights anywhere along the South Coast.

Tuross Head is a pleasant 4 1/2 hours drive from Sydney, and 2 1/2 hours from Canberra. Public transport is available with coaches servicing the area from Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne (see links).

It is fairly easy to hitchhike to and from the village and the highway however there is a good bus shelter at the highway if you need to wait for a pickup.
Tuross provides a wonderful coastline walk adjacent to its pristine beaches with views as far as the eye can see up and down the coast as well as providing stunning views back to the west over the lakes towards the mountains.

There are fabulous places to eat in the village ranging from take aways to restaurants.
The village has a small shopping centre with a petrol station /mechanics, a supermarket, chemist, post office, newsagent, takeaway food, butcher, hardware, bottleshop, hairdresser, bakery, chinese restaurant, cafe and delicatessen. You can find a full list of Tuross Business Owner members here
Tuross Head is close by the quaint villages of Mogo and Bodalla with Tilba Tilba, Central Tilba ,Cobargo and Bermagui a little further afield, but less than an hour away. These villages are filled with local art and craft shops as well as antique stores and popular cafes where you can enjoy coffee and cake or gourmet lunches.
Even if you only have a spare 20 minutes to drive in from the highway and do the loop around the headland you will appreciate the beauty of our quiet village that so many drive by on their way somewhere else.

We hope you take time to enjoy this beautiful little section of the coast
